Prince Bishop, one of no fewer than 14 Group winners for Dubawi in 2010, increased his winning streak to four on 17 October when recording a game victory in the G2 Prix Du Conseil De Paris, run over 12 furlongs at Longchamp.
Settled in mid division under Olivier Peslier, the Godolphin colt was ridden on once the field entered the straight and taking the lead around two furlongs out, found more when pressed by last year’s winner Cirrus Des Aigles and stayed on magnificently to win by a head.
Winner of the G3 Prix du Prince d’Orange last time out, Prince Bishop has now won or placed in five of his seven starts.
Bred by Thurso Limited, Prince Bishop is one of three winners out of North East Bay, herself a half-sister to Stakes winner Hold To Ransom and from the family of Most Welcome.
Dubawi is also sire this year of G1 winners Makfi, Poet’s Voice, Happy Archer and Secret Admirer and has sired an outstanding 21 Black type winners (15 of whom have won at Group level) from his first two crops.
Also on Sunday, first-season sire Shirocco recorded his seventh individual winner when his daughter Mystic Winds was successful at the first time of asking, landing the seven-furlong maiden at Newcastle.
Meanwhile in Italy, Stay Alive - a son of leading freshman Iffraaj - added further Black type to his record when second in the G3 Premio Dormello at San Siro. Later on the same card, Halling's Cavalryman was third in the G1 Gran Premio Del Jockey Club.
