Second G3 victory for Elle Shadow

Daughter of Shamardal lands the Hessan Pokal at Dortmund; Nideeb (Exceed And Excel) wins the Listed Churchill Stakes; ten winners for Shirocco

Shamardal's three-year-old daughter Elle Shadow has been a model of consistency for her sire, finishing out of the first three just once in nine starts and on 20 November, she gained her second victory at G3 level when winning the Hessan Pokal at Dortmund in Germany.

In landing the ten-furlong contest by a length and a quarter, she recorded her fourth career win (three of which have been at Black type level). She was also second in the G1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks) earlier this year.

Bred by Wittekindshof Stud, Elle Shadow is the third Black type winner out of the multiple G1 winner Elle Danzig.

Also on Saturday, three-year-old Exceed And Excel colt Nideeb gained his second Stakes win when quickening impressively to land the Listed Churchill Stakes, run over ten furlongs at Lingfield.

Entering the race off the back of a seven-length romp over the same distance at Kempton ten days ago, the Clive Brittain-trained colt is now likely to attempt to bag another Listed contest in the coming weeks before heading to Dubai.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, Nideeb is the second foal out of the In The Wings mare Mantesera – a full sister to G1 performer Cloud Castle and a half-sister to multiple G1 winners Warrsan and Luso.

Meanwhile at Toulouse, Sanogo became the tenth individual winner for his first-season sire Shirocco (pictured).

Bred by Gestut Westerberg, Sanogo is out of the Stakes-placed Lomitas mare Serenata, making him a half-brother to German 2,000 Guineas winner Santiago.

Exceed And Excel and Shirocco both stand at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £12,000 and £10,000 respectively, while Shamardal stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €50,000. All terms October 1st, Special live foal.
