Dalham Hall stallion Dubawi notched a new Stakes winner on Wednesday April 27, when his three-year-old filly Perfect Tribute swooped late to land the Listed Pavilion Stakes over six-furlongs by a neck.
Trained by Clive Cox, it was the scene of her best previous run when a third in the G3 Princess Margaret Stakes over the same course and distance as a juvenile. Margot Did, by Exceed And Excel, ran her usual game race to finish a gallant third, making her record read two wins and five places in an eight-race career. There are no specific plans for the winner at the moment although it is worth noting that the past three winners of this contest all became G1 sprinters later in the season including the Prix de l'Abbaye victor, Total Gallery.
Bred by Mildmay Bloodstock, she is the first foal of the unraced Invincible Spirit mare Perfect Spirit, herself a half-sister to Stakes winner Swift Tango.
Dubawi, who stands this season at £55,000, has sired 21 Stakes winners from his European crops including last years 2,000 Guineas hero Makfi. This year's renewal on Saturday will see dual 2011 Listed scorer, Dubawi Gold bid to emulate him.
