Dubawi Heights’ win in the one and one-eighth mile Gamely Stakes on May 30 at Hollywood Park showed just how game the four-year-old daughter of Dubawi is, as she courageously chased down a stubborn front-runner the length of the stretch for a hard-fought victory.
Her first start in G1 company produced the desired result and also gave Dubawi his fifth career G1 winner. Dubawi Heights now shows four consecutive wins and one additional second-place finish in six U.S. starts.
Bred by Aston Mullins Stud, Dubawi Heights is out of the winning Suave Dancer mare Rosie's Posy, she a half-sister to the G1-winning sprinter Tante Rose. Rosie's Posy also has a two-year-old colt by Cape Cross, named Red Coast, which was sold for 190,000Gns as a yearling last year.
It was a tremendous weekend for Dubawi as just a little over 24 hours earlier sons Worthadd and Frankenstein captured the G2 Premio Carlo Vittadini and the Listed Coppa d’Oro di Milano, respectively, in Italy.
Dubawi, who stands this season at Dalham Hall Stud for £55,000, has now sired at total of 27 Blacktype winners, 16 Group winners, with 12 G1 performers.
