Dubawi's three-year-old colt Waldpark further staked his claim for Derby glory when stamping his class in the Listed Iffezheimer Derby-Trial, run over 2200m at Baden-Baden. Going into the race unbeaten in two starts by a combined 12 lengths, he was sent off favourite and was always travelling cosily in second before deposing of his rivals in the straight to win by two-and-a-half lengths, with the running-on Shirocco colt, Sommernachtstraum finishing second. He is now clear favourite for the G1 Deutsches Derby, run on the first weekend in July.
Owned and bred in Germany by Gestut Ravensberg, he out of the Champion race-mare, Wurftaube and a half-brother to three other Stakes horses including the Mark of Esteem mare Waldmark, placed in the G2 Falmouth Stakes for Newsells Park Stud and dam of Masked Marvel, a Listed winner this season and Epsom Derby hope. Waldmark has also just been covered by fellow Dalham Hall stallion, New Approach.
