Masamah, by Darley stallion Exceed And Excel, landed his second Listed race of his career when winning the City Wall Stakes over York's five-furlong trip. An admirably consistent gelding, he has now won seven races in a 19-run career including the Listed Queensferry Stakes at Chester last season.
Bred by Stanley Estate & Mount Coote Stud, Masamah is one of four winners bred by the Distant Relative mare Bethesda, herself a half-sister to G1 Middle Park winner, Fard.
Masamah becomes Exceed And Excel's 15th Stakes winner of 2011 and to put this achievement into perspective, only Galileo can beat this figure with 16.
