Godolphin's three-year-old Dubawi colt Hunter's Light took the long trip to Scotland in his stride on Thursday July 14, when he landed his first Stakes success in the Listed Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton Park. Making his fourth start in this eleven-furlong contest, he had previously broken his Maiden at Newmarket impressively by six-lengths before being too keen in the G3 Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Bred by Darley, he is out of the winning Barathea mare Portmanteau, herself a half-sister to G2 Grand Prix de Deauville winner Courteous. From the family of Darshaan, Portmanteau also has a two-year-old filly by Manduro in training with Andre Fabre called Linda Radlett and filly foal by Dubawi. He is the second Stakes winner to be bred out of a Barathea mare after the multiple G2-winner and Dubai World Cup third, Monterosso.
Dubawi has now sired 13 Stakes winners in 2011 including the unbeaten German Derby winner Waldpark, the G1 Gamely Stakes heroine Dubawi Heights, who is unbeaten in three starts in 2011, and Happy Archer, a G1-winner in South Africa. So far in 2011 he has sired eight G1-performers including the G1-milers Worthadd, Dubawi Gold, Luck Or Design and Havane Smoker.
