Godolphin’s Counterglow lit up Brighton’s seven-furlong two-year-old maiden on Wednesday with an easy four-length victory. He becomes the second winner for his sire Echo Of Light, following the first-time-out success of Sound Advice at Musselburgh in June.
Counterglow, who was making his racecourse debut, was bred in Ireland by Colin Kennedy from the Robellino mare Quintellina and is a half-brother to four winners. He holds an entry for next year’s Derby, along with fellow Echo Of Light colts Captivity and Educate.
Echo Of Light’s first winner Sound Advice has been tested in Stakes company since his impressive debut, and finished fourth in the Listed Winkfield Stakes at Ascot on 23 July.
Echo Of Light, like Dubawi, hails from the sole crop of Dubai Millennium. He stood the 2011 season at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for €3,000 (October 1, Special Live Foal).
