Kheleyf's juvenile son Vladimir landed his first Stakes race at his first attempt on Thursday August 4, when taking the Listed Criterium du Bequet at La Teste over 1200m by one-and-a-lengths. Trained in Spain, he went into the race on the back victories at Madrid and San Sebastian and has now earned over €60,000 in a four-race career.
Bred in Ireland by P Noonan and Loughphilip Bloodstock, he was sold for €27,000 as a yearling at Goffs and is a grandson of the top Irish racemare Catch The Blues.
Vladimir is one of 18 juvenile winners sired by Kheleyf this season, a figure that beats all other British based stallions and is only bettered by Acclamation in Ireland. The Champion first-crop sire of his year in 2008 with 31 juvenile winners, his current yearlings are from his best quality book he has ever received, which included 78 dams that were either Stakes horses, dams of, or siblings to Stakes horses.
