Dubawi three-year-old Dubawi Gold cruised from last to first to win Goodwood’s G2 Celebration Mile in eye-catching fashion on Saturday.
Runner-up to the great Frankel in the 2,000 Guineas in April and then to Roderic O’Connor in the Irish 2,000 Guineas the following month, Dubawi Gold has proved himself to be an ultra-tough performer, winning back-to-back Listed races in the spring and finishing fourth in his most recent prior appearance in the G2 Hungerford Stakes on 13 August.
Bred by Albert Bennett, his dam Savannah Belle is by Green Desert, representing a cross that has worked to great effect with Dubawi’s 2,000 Guineas winner Makfi and fellow stakes winners Lucky Nine and Zubbaya.
