Prince Siegfried, a five-year-old son of Royal Applause, recorded a battling victory in the G3 Winter Hill Stakes over ten furlongs at Windsor on Saturday evening. His fellow Godolphin runner, King's Best four-year-old Simon de Montfort, was third.
Bred in France by Haras Saint Pair du Mont, Prince Siegfried is out of the winning stayer Intrum Morshaan, by Darshaan.
Running off a mark of 108, the gelding secured back-to-back wins, having scored over the same distance at Epsom on 28 July.
At two, he was runner-up to Zafisio in the G1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud, and he won the Listed Doonside Cup at Ayr the following season. A consistent performer, he has won six of his 19 starts and has been in the first three on another six occasions.
Royal Applause, the sire of Grade One winner Ticker Tape and leading young sire Acclamation among his 17 individual Group winners, stands at the Royal Studs in Norfolk.
