Night Of Thunder’s juvenile daughter, Fairy Godmother, produced a brilliant turn of foot for a thrilling victory in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday, 21 June. This was a second Black Type win for the filly, who landed the Group 3 Fillies’ Sprint Stakes on her second start at Naas a month ago.
Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Fairy Godmother raced towards the rear of the field before joining the main group, however she didn’t get the clearest of runs and was switched left by Ryan Moore over a furlong out. Quickening up smartly, she ran on strongly to get her head in front in the final half furlong to prevail by three-quarters of a length over Simmering (Too Darn Hot).
Bred by Ballyphilip Stud, Fairy Godmother was a 425,000gns Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 purchase. She is the second foal out of the winning Siyouni mare, Scintilating, she is also responsible for the Stakes-placed, Sketch.
Night Of Thunder is having another successful season having so far sired eight Black Type winners. These are headed by Dynamic Pricing who landed the G2 Edgewood Stakes and Economics who was the hugely impressive winner of the G2 Dante Stakes.
