Night Of Thunder added a new Stakes winner, and his third in the last seven days, to his record on Tuesday 12 September when Thunder Roll landed the Listed Oyster Stakes at Galway.
Settled in second under jockey Dylan Browne, Thunder Roll took the lead two furlongs out and kept to her task superbly to win by three-quarters of a length.
This was a well-deserved first career victory, having never finished out of the frame in five starts including places in the Listed King George V Cup and G3 Darley Munster Oaks.
Bred by Whisperview Trading, Thunder Roll is out of the winning Pivotal mare Swingland, herself a half-sister to smart performer and Group-winning producer Under The Rainbow.
Night Of Thunder is responsible for 22 Black Type performers so far this year, including last weekend’s winners Flight Plan and Al Musmak, who landed the G2 Solonoway Stakes and Listed Ascendant Stakes respectively.
Also on Tuesday, Europe’s leading first-season sire Blue Point added yet another winner when Blue Lemons made a winning debut at Leicester, taking the seven-furlong novice by half a length.
Blue Lemons was bred by Norelands Bloodstock and M Gilsenan and is out of the Galileo mare Solar Event, a half-sister to G2 winner Time On, who is herself the dam of Group-winning juvenile Mot Juste.
Blue Point is now sire of 34 individual winners including four who have been successful at Black Type level. Among them is the unbeaten colt Rosallion, a strong favourite to take Saturday’s G2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.
