West Wind Blows landed his third career Stakes victory when winning the G3 La Coupe at ParisLongchamp in France on Sunday, 11 June. The four-year-old son of Teofilo was having his second start of the season having finished third in the G2 Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket at the beginning of May.
Trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, West Wind Blows sat comfortably in second under Christophe Soumillon, he took up the running 400m from home and was ridden out to prevail by one and a three-quarter lengths in the 2000m contest.
Last year West Wind Blows, who is owned by Abdulla Al Mansoori, won three times including the Listed Glasgow Stakes and G3 Prix du Prince d’Orange.
West Wind Blows, who was bred by Godolphin, is out of the winning-mare West Wind (Machiavellian), she has bred four other winners and has a Teofilo unraced two-year-old colt in training and a yearling colt by Masar.
This is Teofilo’s second Stakes winner this weekend, after Without A Fight was the impressive winner of the Q22 at Eagle Farm in Australia yesterday. Teofilo is the sire of 100 individual Stakes winners and last year was the broodmare sire of both English Guineas winners (Cachet and Coroebus).
