Blue Point sired his tenth winner on Sunday, 11 June when his promising juvenile son Thunder Blue, broke his maiden over six furlongs at Goodwood.
Trained by Dominic Ffrench Davis, Thunder Blue jumped well under Kevin Stott and was settled behind the leader, with a furlong and a half to run he easily took up the running and inside the final furlong was ridden clear to win by a comfortable three and a quarter-lengths.
This was Thunder Blue’s second career start, showing promise on his debut just over two weeks ago at Haydock where he was beaten by half a length into second place after struggling to get a clear run.
Bred by Haras de la Perelle, Thunder Blue was a £180,000 Breeze Up Sales purchase. He is out of the Group-placed mare, Kodyanna (Kodiac), herself a half-sister to Stakes winners Darkanna and Logo Hunter (Brazen Beau).
Blue Point, who is the winner of four G1 sprint races, including three at Royal Ascot (King’s Stand Stakes twice and Diamond Jubilee Stakes), is also the sire of exciting colt Rosallion who won on his debut last week and may now head to Royal Ascot for the G2 Coventry Stakes. Other winners include Politico, Action Point, Blue Storm and Zabriskie Point.
