On only his third start in Australia Without A Fight, a son of Teofilo, recorded a second successive Stakes win when galloping out the two-length winner of the G2 Q22 at Eagle Farm in on Saturday, 10 June. This followed on from his one-and-three-quarter length victory in the G3 Lord Mayor’s Cup only two weeks ago at this track.
After breaking well from the gates Mark Zahra settled Without A Fight towards the rear of the field, travelling keenly throughout the 2200m race they began to make progress after the 1200m mark. Making his move down the outside of the track the gelding soon found himself in front and stretching clear inside the closing stages won easing down at the line.

This was a fifth career Black Type win for Without A Fight who was previously trained in Britain by Simon & Ed Crisford. In 2021 he recorded his first Stakes win in the Listed Godolphin Stakes at Newmarket, with further success last year in the Listed Grand Cup Stakes and G3 Silver Cup, which he won by three and a half lengths.
Following a run in the Melbourne Cup last year he was then transferred to Anthony Freedman to continue his racing career in Australia and will now be aimed for the Caufield Cup later in the year.
Owned and bred by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid al Maktoum, Without A Fight is out of the G3-winning Dubawi mare, Khor Sheed who has bred three other winners. She is a half-sister to G1 winner Prince Kirk.
Teofilo is the sire of 100 individual Black Type winners, including two G1 Melbourne Cup winners (Cross Counter and Twilight Payment), Nations Pride (G1 Saratoga Derby), Subjectivist (G1 Ascot Gold Cup) and Pleascach (G1 Yorkshire Oaks and Irish 1,000 Guineas. He was also the broodmare sire of last year’s English 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas winners (Cachet and Coroebus), German 2,000 Guineas hero, Maljoom and G1 Preis der Diana winner, Toskana Belle.
