Grazalema was a new winner for Cracksman when she ran out an easy three-and-a-quarter length win on her debut at La Zarzuela, Spain on Sunday, 20 November.
The two-year-old filly who is trained by G. Arizkorreta, was settled in behind the leaders by José Luis Martínez and was soon ridden out to hit the front in the final 200m, before stretching clear of the rest of the field to secure victory in the 1600m contest.
Bred in Great Britain by Essafinaat UK Ltd, Grazalema is the first foal out of the South African G2-winning mare Smiling Blue Eyes (Dynasty), she is a half-sister to Russian Sage who was Champion 3yo Middle Distance Male in South Africa. Smiling Blue Eyes also has a yearling filly by Masar.
Cracksman has sired 15 individual winners in his first crop. They are headed by G2-winning filly Aloa, who won the Premio Dormello in Italy and also include Listed winner Dance In The Grass, who alongside highly-rated filly Madly Truly, hold entries for next year’s Irish 1,000 Guineas. He has also sired Listed-placed filly Crackovia and three-time winning filly Petra.
