Even by his own lofty standards, Dubawi is enjoying a spectacular year and on Sunday, 2 October he reached a new milestone when siring his 39th individual Black Type winner of the year – a record for him.
Everest Rose’s victory in Germany took Dubawi’s tally for the year one higher than his previous best of 38 Stakes winners, which his achieved in 2019 and last year.
This year alone, he is sire of seven G1 winners, from Royal Ascot sprint hero Naval Crown to Guineas-winning duo Coroebus and Modern Games, to St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov. He is sire of a further 18 Pattern winners and a further nine horses who have placed at the highest level.
Incredibly, his son Night Of Thunder is shaping up to be even better than his own brilliant sire. His percentage of first-crop Stakes winners and his fifth-crop yearling average are already better than Dubawi’s, plus his two current juvenile Stakes winners put him ahead of his sire for that crop, too.
Dubawi stands alongside another of his outstanding sons in Champion juvenile Too Darn Hot. His first yearlings are going through the ring now and he has 17 due to sell at Tattersalls this week during Book 1.
