First season stallion Cracksman sired his first Stakes winner on Thursday, 21 July when his daughter Dance In The Grass remained unbeaten in the Listed Star Stakes. Run over seven furlongs at Sandown, Dance In The Grass came into the race on the back of a course and distance debut triumph last month. Held up in the rear early, she made her move wide in the straight, eventually getting the better of Dubawi’s daughter Fairy Cross by three quarters of a length, with a further six lengths back to the third.
Bred by Minster Stud and Mrs H Dalgety, Dance In The Grass is the first foal of the Stakes-placed mare Dance The Dream, who herself is a daughter of the Oaks-placed Shadow Dancing. Dance The Dream also has a colt foal by Dubawi’s Champion juvenile Too Darn Hot.
Dual European Champion Cracksman has made a spectacular start at stud, siring seven winners from his first 11 runners. He has also sired the Italian Stakes-placed filly Aloa, dual wide-margin winner Petra, the unbeaten Newbury winner Rich, the highly rated Crackovia, and speedster Dickieburd, who holds a G3 Molecomb entry at Goodwood next week.
Cracksman is available to cover at southern hemisphere time at a fee of £15,000.
