Wexford Native, a three-year-old son of Teofilo, landed the Listed Celebration Stakes for owner Mrs J S Bolger, in a thrilling finish at the Curragh on Saturday, 25 June.
The bay colt made a winning racecourse debut back in March for his trainer Jim Bolger. Under jockey Kevin Manning, Wexford Native was settled to track the leaders, he began to make his move turning into the home straight and in the final 150 yards he battled it out with The Acropolis to prevail by a neck in the eight furlong contest. He holds entries for G1 King George & Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and Irish Champion Stakes.
An own brother to seven-furlong winner, Theodorico, Wexford Native was bred by J S Bolger. He is out the Gone West mare, Yes Oh Yes, an unraced half-sister to Group-placed and US winner, Aaroness.
Teofilo is the broodmare sire of both this year’s Guineas winners. He is also the sire of 22 G1 winners, which include two Melbourne Cup winners (Cross Counter and Twilight Payment) and Ascot Gold Cup winner, Subjectivist.
