Even by Dubawi’s extraordinary standards, the last week has been truly exception for the Dalham Hall Stud flagbearer.
He finished Royal Ascot as leading sire, with no fewer than five winners at the Berkshire track’s showpiece meeting. They were led by G1-winning duo Coroebus and Naval Crown, the latter becoming his 50th G1 winner in the process – a figure never achieved before by a British-based sire. Earlier in the week Eldar Eldarov became his 150th individual Group winner when landing the G2 Queen’s Vase.
Yesterday, his three-year-old son Erevann retained his unbeaten record in Group-winning fashion when taking the G3 Prix de Paul Moussac on the French Oaks undercard.
Then, even on a relatively quiet day of racing in Europe on Monday, 20 June, Dubawi added yet another Black Type winner to his record when In Crowd cruised to victory in the Listed Grand Prix Anjou Bretagne at Nantes.
The Freddy-Head-trained four-year-old broke well from the stalls and was settled in second under Olivier Peslier. Taking the lead before the final turn, In Crowd soon asserted his dominance over the field, easing clear to win the one-mile contest by three lengths.
This was his third win on the bounce, and sixth overall.
Owned and bred by George Strawbridge, In Crowd is out of the outstanding blue hen In Clover, now dam of an exceptional six Stakes winners including G1 winners Call The Wind, With You and We Are.
Dubawi has now sired an unrivalled 24 individual Black Type winners in 2022, four of whom have succeeded at the highest level and a further 11 who have been victorious in Pattern company.
