Farhh’s three-year-old daughter Fonteyn had looked a progressive type on her previous outings and on Friday, 13 May she fulfilled her promise with a gutsy victory in the Listed Michael Seely Memorial Fillies' Stakes, run over a mile at York.
The Kevin Ryan-trained filly was settled in fifth on the inside under Andrea Atzeni, before moving to a more prominent position at the two-furlong marker. Taking the lead a furlong out, she was hard pressed by the highly regarded Grand Dame but battled superbly to win by s head.
Never out of the frame in her previous three starts, Fonteyn was most recently beaten just a neck by subsequent Pretty Polly Stakes third Crenelle and has previously finished ahead of this week’s G3 Musidora Stakes placegetter Ching Shi.
Fonteyn is a homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid al Maktoum and is out of the unraced Cape Cross mare Luzia.
Farhh is also sire of G1 QEII winner King Of Change, plus fellow Group winners Move Swiftly, Nocturnal Fox, and Derby and Gold Cup runner-up Dee Ex Bee.
