The regally-bred Concert Hall made a winning seasonal debut in the Listed Salsabil Stakes at Navan on Saturday, 23 April.
Winner of the G3 Weld Stakes as a juvenile last term, the three-year-old filly relished the ten furlong contest, getting up on the line to beat fellow G3w Magical Lagoon. Concert Hall may now bid to emulate her Classic-winning dam Was with trainer Aiden O’Brien outlining the G1 Oaks at Epsom as a possible target.
Bred by The Was Syndicate, Concert Hall is the best performer from the G1-winning daughter of Galileo and bred on the same highly successful Dubawi/ Galileo cross that produced Night Of Thunder and Ghaiyyath. Was is an own-sister to Group winners Douglas MacArthur and Amhran Na Bhfiann, and out of the Stakes-placed Alluring Park. She is a half-sister to European Champion New Approach, with Concert Hall’s third dam none other than dual European Champion Park Express.
Dubawi is the sire of 149 individual Group winners with 48 of these coming at the highest level. His 15 Stakes winners so far in 2022 are led by G1 Dubai Turf winner Lord North and G2 Balanchine Stakes victrix Creative Flair. Alongside Concert Hall, Dubawi has a strong hand of Classic contenders this season including G3 Autumn Stakes hero Coroebus, who lines up in next week’s G1 2000 Guineas for in form trainer Charlie Appleby.
