Kukeracha, a son of Night Of Thunder, made a return to form with a determined victory in the Listed Tails Stakes at Doomben on Saturday, 23 April.
Having made a name for himself last season becoming a first G1w for his sire in the Queensland Derby, the battled-hardened Kukeracha stayed on gamely to win the 1640m contest for trainer Chris Waller.
Kukeracha was bred by Dr C R Phillips and is a half-brother to Shamardal’s G3 scorer Cameo. They are out of the A. P. Indy mare Portrait of a Lady, a winning half-sister to multiple G1 performer Layman. His third dam, G1 Irish Oaks victrix Alydaress, is a half-sister to Champion filly Park Appeal, dam of former Darley stallion Cape Cross.
Night Of Thunder is also the sire of three-time Stakes winner Cherry Tortoni from his sole southern hemisphere crop. Last week, his first-crop daughter Thunder Kiss added another Stakes win to her record with a dominate victory in the Listed Noblesse Stakes at Cork. This leaves Night Of Thunder with an excellent 20% SW/ R from his first crop which also includes G1w Thundering Nights.
