Ayrton has always promised to be a G1 star and the four-year-old son of the mighty Iffraaj could get his chance to prove it in Adelaide and Brisbane in the coming weeks.
First-up from a spell in the G3 Victoria Handicap over 1,400m at Caulfield on Saturday, 16 April, Ayrton raced away in the home straight to score handsomely over Streets Of Avalon and Excelida.
Jockey Jamie Kah positioned the gelding right behind the leaders before Ayrton pushed through a gap and quickly put the result beyond doubt.
Co-trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr may now set Ayrton for the G1 Goodwood Handicap at Morphettville and/or the G1 Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm.
He has now won six races, including the G3 Gunsynd Classic at Doomben last year, and been placed twice from eight starts for prize money earnings of $535,900.
Iffraaj won seven of his 13 starts on the track and has now sired 11 G1 winners and 71 Stakes winners all together.
He is the sire of champion gallopers Ribchester, Jon Snow, Jungle Cat, Turn Me Loose and of rising Perth star Western Empire.
