Iffraaj sired his 250th European-bred two-year-old winner as Island Falcon landed the Golden Horn Maiden Stakes on Wednesday, 27 October at Nottingham.
Trained by Saeed bin Suroor and ridden by Pat Cosgrove, Island Falcon put up an impressive front-running performance to see off a sustained battle from eventual second Barley in the last two furlongs.
This prestigious maiden has previously been won by Arc and Derby winner Golden Horn (after whom the race is of course now named), and most recently Derby and King George hero Adayar who, triumphed in the contest by an astounding nine lengths this time a year ago.
Bred by Godolphin, Island Falcon is out of the Dubawi mare Adoringly, herself a half-sister to multiple G1 winner and 2021 Caulfield Guineas hero Anamoe.
Iffraaj enjoyed further success on Wednesday through his first-season sire son, Ribchester who added a 14th individual winner to his tally, when his daughter Dobra landed the Prix de la Maniguette at Chantilly.
Trained by Carlos Laffon-Parias, the filly was settled mid-division in the 1,500m contest before running on well in the final 400m in the hands of Arthur Mosse to win by three quarters of a length.
Bred by Mrs Eimear Mulhern, the filly was purchased at Tattersalls October Book 3 Yearling Sale and is out of the winning mare Scarlet Belle, herself a half-sister to German G1 winner Neatico and American G2 winner Beautyandthebeast.
Ribchester recently sired his first Black Type winner, when the highly rated Flaming Rib put up a very impressive performance to land the Listed Doncaster Stakes.
