Three-year-old Scope (Teofilo) became the 22nd individual G1 winner for his sire when taking the G1 Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp on Sunday, 24 October.
Following on from Subjectivist’s emphatic victory last season, Scope emerged from the centre of the field and hit top gear in the final 200m. Drawing clear with the challenging Skazino, Scope kept on strongly to win by a length, securing back-to-back editions of the one mile seven furlong contest for his sire Teofilo.
Owned and bred by Julian Richmond-Watson, Scope is a half brother to the Listed-winning duo of Regardez and Glance. They are out of a winning Efisio half-sister to the G1 Oaks winner Look Here. This is the family of G2 Queen’s Vase victor Namibian and the G1-performing Pursuit Of Love.
Among Teofilo’s Stakes winners this season is the aforementioned Subjectivist, winner of the G1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, alongside G3 Irish St Leger Trial winner Twilight Payment, himself the winner of the G1 Melbourne Cup last season. Prior to today’s G1 victory, Scope also provided Teofilo with a 100th individual Stakes winner when landing the Listed Noel Murless Stakes earlier in the month at Ascot.
