Dilawar, a son of Dubawi, continued his upward trajectory with a first Stakes victory on Sunday, 29 August in the G3 Prix Quincey at Deauville.
Dropped to a mile for the first time, the lightly-raced four-year-old settled towards the rear before making a strong run up the outside, cruising to a two and a half-length victory under Christophe Soumillon.
An Aga Khan homebred, Dilawar is a half-brother to the Stakes-placed Dolia and out of G1 Dubai Sheema Classic heroine Dolniya (Azamour). She in turn is out of an Indian Ridge half-sister to European Champions Daylami and Dalakhani.
Dilawar becomes the 26th Stakes winner of 2021 for his fantastic sire Dubawi, with 16 of these coming at Group level. Among them are last week’s G2 City of York Stakes winner Space Blues, G2 Great Voltigeur victor Yibir and this year’s G1 Dubai Turf winner Lord North, one of 44 individual G1 winners sired by Dubawi.
Dubawi has also enjoyed considerable success as a broodmare sire this season with his Group-winning daughter Anna Salai producing this season's emphatic G1 Derby and G1 King George VI winner Adayar.
