Night Of Thunder added a new Stakes winner to his record on Sunday, 22 August when his daughter Rumbles Of Thunder took the Listed Premio Merano in Italy, coming with a superb late run to land the 11-furlong contest by a short head.
This was the second career victory for Rumbles Of Thunder, who has raced solely in Stakes company since breaking her maiden on her racecourse debut in June of this year.
Bred in Ireland by F Killen, Rumbles Of Thunder is one of two winners from two foals to race out of Blanche Neige, a full sister to Halling’s G2 winner Harland. Blanche Neige’s other winner is Jersey Rose, by first-season sire Profitable.
Earlier in the afternoon, Night Of Thunder’s G1-winning daughter Thundering Nights added further Black Type to her record when third in the G1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet.
Night Of Thunder is also sire of Australian G1 winner Kukeracha, plus star sprinter Suesa and progressive Royal Ascot winner Highfield Princess, who finished second to Space Blues in Saturday’s G2 City Of York Stakes.
Night Of Thunder has eight yearlings catalogued in this week’s Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale.
