Dubawi’s ever consistent son Glorious Journey added a fifth Group win when taking the G3 Criterion Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday, 26 June.
Third on his last start in the G3 John Of Gaunt Stakes at Newbury, Glorious Journey was produced on the far rail by jockey James Doyle, hitting the front with two furlongs to travel. Pressed by the strong finishing Motakhayyel in the final furlong, Glorious Journey stayed on gamely to win by a length, sealing a 150th Group win for his trainer Charlie Appleby.
Bred by Normandie Stud and purchased for 2.6million guineas at the Tattersalls Book 1 yearling sale, Glorious Journey is the second foal out of G1 Coronation Stakes heroine Fallen For You (Dansili). She is the best performer out of the Listed-winning and G3-placed Fallen Star, herself a half-sister to G1 Lockinge Stakes victor Fly To The Stars.
A Group winner every season throughout his career, Glorious Journey is one of 208 individual Stakes winners for his sire Dubawi, with 44 of these coming at the highest level.
Dubawi is the sire of 22 Stakes winners alone in 2021, including two at last week’s Royal Ascot with Kemari taking the G2 Queen’s Vase and a 1-2 in the G3 Jersey Stakes with three-year-old Creative Force just bettering Naval Crown.
