Dubawi’s three-year-old daughter Thunder Drum gained a valuable first Group victory on Sunday, 6 June when landing the G3 Prix de Royaumont. Appreciating the step up to 2400m, she was always prominent and showed great tenacity to record a one-length victory over Ricla.
Owned and bred by Lady Bamford, she was initially trained by John Gosden as a juvenile in the UK but has thrived with the switch to the stable of Jerome Reynier, winning two of her five starts this year.
Thunder Drum is a daughter of the G1 Irish Oaks winner Great Heavens, a full-sister to the Champion Nathaniel and three-parts to G1-winning juvenile Playful Act.
Great Heavens is a daughter of Galileo and this Dubawi cross is now responsible for five Group winners including star young stallion Night Of Thunder and world Champion Ghaiyyath.
Dubawi has now sired 18 Stakes winners in 2021, which is more than any other European stallion. They include top-flight winner Lord North, and Group-winning three-year-olds Rebel’s Romance, Master Of The Seas and Philomene. It also concludes an excellent weekend for him after Devamani landed a G3 in the US on Saturday as well as his daughter Anna Salai being the dam of Derby hero Adayar.
