Iffraaj added an 80th individual Black Type winner to his record on Monday, 24 May when his four-year-old son Reshabar landed the Prix du Montretout, run over a mile at Longchamp.
Settled in fourth early on under Gerald Mosse, Reshabar was ridden along two furlongs out and took the lead with a furlong left to run. Soon moving clear of his rivals, Reshabar held off a late challenge from Dubai World Cup third Magny Cours to win by a neck.
Previous Group winner Irska (Hunter’s Light) added further Black Type to her record by finishing third.
Bred by Concept Real Ag, Reshabar is out of the winning mare Rait, a half-sister to Iffraaj’s G3 winner and multiple G1 placegetter Nathra.
Iffraaj has sired 14 Black Type horses so far in 2021, including Group winners Fast Raaj, Forest Of Dean, Land Of Legends and Western Empire. He is sire 10 G1 winners to date, including fellow Darley stallion Ribchester, who has made a very promising start to his stud career this year.
Iffraaj stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £20,000, while Ribchester stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €17,500, both Oct 1, SLF.
