Tyche Goddess, a three-year-old daughter of Teofilo, recorded a first Stakes victory when taking the G3 Auraria Stakes at Morphettville, SA on Saturday, 17 April.
Third in the G2 Wakeful Stakes at Flemington last October, the filly was driven in the last 300m, emerging from the middle of the pack with 200m to travel and battling on strongly to the line to win by a neck.
Tyche Goddess is the best performer from the Stakes-winning Reset mare Cornelia Marie, herself a half-sister to the Listed-winning Chitabe. They are out of a winning own-sister to G3 victor Great Condor and from the family of G3 Blue Diamond Prelude winner Due Sasso.
Tyche Goddess is the 96th individual Stakes winner for her sire Teofilo who is already the sire of four further Black Type winners this season alone, lead by G2 Dubai Gold Cup hero Subjectivist. He is also the sire of 21 individual G1 winners including last year’s G1 Prix Saint Alary heroine Tawkeel and October’s G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud victor Gear Up, who will be pointed towards Classics this season.
