Teofilo’s excellent season continued on Saturday, 1 August when his four-year-old son Get Shirty landed the Listed Prix du Carrousel. Run over 3000m at Deauville, the progressive stayer made his move towards the rails in the straight to win easily by one-and-three-quarter lengths from Ashrun (Authorized) with Dubawi’s son Ghostwatch in third.
Upped to staying trips, he has now won two of his three starts in 2020 with his only defeat a third in the G2 Prix Vicomtesse Vigier at Chantilly in June.
Bred by Haras du Mont Dit Mont and from the excellent family of Samum, Schiaparelli and Champion filly Samba Brazil (also by Teofilo), Get Shirty is out of the winning Monsun-mare Soccer Mom.
Teofilo has now sired nine Stakes winners in 2020 including two thrilling G1 scorers. Exultant was named Hong Kong horse of the season with two of his five top-flight triumphs coming this year, while Tawkeel became France’s leading three-year-old filly with a wide-margin win in the Prix Saint Alary. Twilight Payment has won two Group races including a nine-length win in the G2 Curragh Cup.
