Dubawi’s imposing son Ghaiyyath made a perfect seasonal debut on Thursday, 20 February when running away with the G3 Dubai Millennium Stakes at Meydan. Sent straight to the front under jockey William Buick, he was a little keen through the first half of the race but had too much class for his rivals, running out the easy eight-and-a-half length victor.
The winner of six of his nine career starts, Ghaiyyath was the spectacular winner of the G1 Grosser Preis von Baden last season, taking the race by a remarkable 14 lengths.
Bred by Springbank Way Stud, Ghaiyyath is a son of the Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Nighttime, who has produced five winners including Champion filly Zhukova.
Ghaiyyath is one of 41 G1 winners sired by the outstanding Dubawi. He has already sired five Stakes winners in 2020 including his G1-winning son Benbatl, who has won a brace of G2’s on both turf and dirt and now heads to the inaugural running of the Saudi Cup followed by the G1 Dubai World Cup.
