Only a few weeks after a stellar European season concluded for Night Of Thunder, the son of Dubawi has opened his Australian Stakes account.
A Beautiful Night, who earned notoriety as Night Of Thunder’s first Australian winner when she scored at Flemington on New Year’s Day, claimed Stakes honours at Caulfield on Saturday, 25 January in the G3 Blue Diamond Preview for fillies.
The win completed a sweep for the Darley stallions in the day’s Caulfield juvenile features with Street Boss supplying the winner of the colts and geldings division of the Blue Diamond Previews with dual-listed winner Hanseatic.
A Beautiful Night took control of the race from the jump, staved off pressure in the middle stages and then kicked away at the 200m to score by a long neck from Fresh with Unstoppable in third place.
Night Of Thunder stood for one season in Australia and ended last year as the leading first-season sire of Stakes winners in Europe with seven. It completes an excellent week for Night Of Thunder after his three-year-old daughter Dubai Love struck at Listed level on Thursday at Meydan in the UAE 1,000 Guineas.
