The 2020 Dubai World Cup Carnival kicked off at Meydan on Thursday, 2 January the very first Stakes contest run at the Dubai racecourse, the Meydan Challenge, was won in superb style by Iffraaj’s son Major Partnership.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained entire was settled just off the early pace under Pat Cosgrave, before coming with a fantastic run on the inside rail to take the lead inside the final furlong and move clear to win by a length and a half.
Major Partnership was bred by Eyrefield Lodge Stud and is out of the Stakes-placed Polish Precedent mare Roystonea, also dam of Royal Lodge Stakes winner and G1 Racing Post Trophy third, Foundation.
Iffraaj rounded off 2019 with a G1 victory in New Zealand for Wyndspelle, while this year he has exciting G2 May Hill Stakes winner and Classic contender Powerful Breeze to look forward to.
