Sunday, 20 October was a successful one for Darley stallions with Stakes winners across Europe.
Manduro’s daughter High As A Kite was the first to strike after her repeat victory in the Listed Stockholm Fillies & Mares Stakes at Bro Park. Now the winner of four Stakes contests, she had little difficulty in winning easily in the 2100m contest.
Bred by G Rollain, High As A Kite is one of four winners bred out of the One Cool Cat mare Troiecat, including her full sister Crown Vallary, a juvenile winner in France.
Shamardal’s three-year-old daughter Aviatress gained a valuable first Stakes victory at Longchamp in France when winning the Listed Prix de Saint-Cyr. The Ecurie des Monceaux bred filly managed to get her head in front on the line to defeat Dubawi’s daughter Orchid Star.
One race later, Dawn Approach sired his third Stakes winner in the space of eight days when his three-year-old daughter Dariyza won the Listed Prix Casimir Delamarre.
The winner of half of her six career starts, the Aga Khan homebred handled the testing ground well to record a one-length victory.
Shamardal made it a Stakes double on the day at Longchamp when his son Subway Dancer recorded his biggest triumph of his career in the G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris.
Bred by Haras de Saint Pair, the seven-year-old was adding to his G3 triumph in the Prix Andre Baboin back in 2016.
Shamardal (pictured) has now sired 19 Stakes winners in Europe in 2019, beaten only by Dubawi and Galileo. In a spectacular season, he became the only stallion to have three unbeaten G1-winning juveniles in the same crop and his sprinting son Blue Point is the only horse to win three G1 sprints at Royal Ascot.
