First-season sires Golden Horn and Outstrip both added new winners to their records on Tuesday, 20 August with victories for Festive Star and Come On Girl.
Golden Horn filly Festive Star had made a promising debut at Newmarket earlier this month, and she had clearly benefited from the experience, as she tracked the early pace before outbattling Exceed And Excel’s daughter Amber Island to win by three quarters of a length. Pocket Square (Night Of Thunder) made it a Darley-sired trifecta, finishing a length back in third.
Festive Star was bred by Sun Kingdom Pty Ltd and is out of the G1-placed Listed winner Festoso, herself a half-sister to G1 Prix Jean Prat winner Olden Times.
Golden Horn is also sire of G3 Sweet Solera Stakes winner West End Girl.
Earlier in the afternoon, Outstrip’s daughter Come On Girl put up a tremendous battle to win the six-furlong Nursery from Red Jasper, with the pair a full six lengths clear of the rest of the field.
Bred by Kirtlington Stud, Come On Girl is out of the Oasis Dream mare Floating and is from the family of G1 winner Bonne Ile.
Outstrip is now sire of eight individual winners, including Stakes winner Flippa The Strippa.
