Dubawi’s daughter Coronet is undoubtedly one of the bravest horses in training and on Sunday, 18 August, she notched her second G1 win on the bounce with an easy victory in the G1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet.
John Gosden’s charge, partnered by Frankie Dettori, was settled just behind the early leaders on the rail and raced in that position for much of the 10-furlong contest. Once asked for her effort entering the home straight, Coronet soon took up the running and was never troubled from then on, keeping on superbly to win by a length.
Coronet became Dubawi’s 40th G1 winner at the end of June when beating a high-class field to take the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. She will now head to Ascot for the fillies and mares race on Champions Day.
Owned and bred by Denford Stud, Coronet is a half-sister to G2 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial winner and G1 Irish Derby runner up Midas Touch. They are out of the Listed-winning and G2-placed Darshaan mare Approach, a half-sister to dual G1 winner Aussie Rules.
Coronet is one of three G1 winners this year for Dubawi, also sire of Old Persian and Champion three-year-old elect Too Darn Hot. She becomes the second Group winner for her sire in 24 hours, following Glorious Journey’s victory in yesterday’s G2 Hungerford Stakes at Newbury.
