As announced at this week’s Darley stallion parade, Champion sprinter elect Blue Point will join the Irish stallion roster next year, standing at Kildangan Stud.
Blue Point was a smart performer from the off, breaking his maiden in early June at the first time of asking. He won the G2 Gimcrack by three lengths before placing in both the G1 Middle Park and the Dewhurst.
He returned at three with victory in the G3 Pavilion Stakes, where he broke Ascot’s six furlong track record when beating Harry Angel.
The highlight of his four-year-old campaign was his first triumph in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. Facing a top-class field, he beat Battaash by nearly two lengths with Mabs Cross and Lady Aurelia further behind.
This year, he has carried all before him, winning every one of his five starts.
After dominating in Dubai's top turf sprints it was straight to Royal Ascot. On the Tuesday, he became only the second horse in 85 years to win successive King’s Stands.
Four days later, he rounded off his career with victory in the G1 Diamond Jubilee.
With a Timeform rating of 132, he is the fastest and best performer to date by Shamardal.
His fee will be set at a later date.
