Proper Beau, a son of first-season sire Brazen Beau, made a winning debut on Tuesday, 2 April when readily taking a five-furlong contest at Musselburgh for owners Michael and Terry Moses.
After disputing the lead and pulling easily away from the field, the debut runner from Brazen Beau’s first European crop kept on well to win by a neck with a further seven lengths back to third.
Bred by The Aston House Stud and bought by his trainer Bryan Smart for 34,000gns at Tattersalls, Proper Beau is a half-brother to four winners out of the Listed-placed Pivotal mare Olivia Grace. They hail from a family of winning sprinters alongside G3 Diomed Stakes victor Hazyview.
Brazen Beau, the Champion sprinter of his generation in his native Australia, has already made an impact with his first southern hemisphere runners which include the Listed winner Accession, Black Type performer First Dawn and the hugely exciting Tassort.
