The seven-furlong Al Fahidi Fort was one of the feature races on the card at Meydan on Thursday, 24 January and D’Bai (Dubawi) provided the Darley stallions with their second consecutive winner of the race, leading home Iffraaj’s Mythical Magic.
Settled towards the rear under James Doyle, D’Bai was asked for his effort once entering the home straight and picked up superbly, soon taking up the running and crossing the line two lengths in front.
This was the third Black Type win for Charlie Appleby’s charge, who won the Listed Silver Tankard Stakes at two and landed the G3 John Of Gaunt Stakes last June.
D’Bai was bred by Lodge Park Stud and is out of the winning Green Desert mare Savannah Belle, making him a full brother to G2 Celebration Mile winner and G1 English and Irish Guineas runner-up Dubawi Gold, plus fellow Stakes winner Fort Knox.
Dubawi, officially the world’s best stallion and sire of the best two juveniles in Europe in 2018 in Too Darn Hot and Quorto, stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £250,000, Oct 1, SLF.
Iffraaj also stands at Dalham Hall Stud, at £35,000, Oct 1, SLF.
