Raven’s Pass was responsible for the first Group winner of the 2019 Dubai World Cup Carnival on Thursday, 3 January, when his son Raven’s Corner ran out the facile winner of the six-furlong Dubawi Stakes.
Satish Seemar’s charge was always close to the pace under jockey Richard Mullen and racing wide around the final turn, soon took the lead once asked to quicken, skipping clear of his rivals to win more easily than the length-and-three-quarters margin would suggest.
Raven’s Corner has raced solely in Dubai since breaking his maiden at Doncaster at three and now has five victories to his name. He is out of the multiple winner Beautiful Filly (Oasis Dream), also dam of German 1.000 Guineas winner Unforgetable Filly (Sepoy) and three further winners, including one of Slade Power’s promising first-crop winners in Deira Surprise.
Raven’s Pass, who sires an impressive nine per cent Stakes winners to runners, enjoyed a superb year in 2018, headed by G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere hero Royal Marine.
Raven’s Pass stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €10,000, Oct 1, SLF.
