Two Darley stallions enjoyed a successful Friday afternoon on 5 October, with both Raven’s Pass and Dubawi adding to their haul of Black Type winners.
Four-year-old Raven’s Pass filly Nisreen added a fourth career victory to her record at Saint-Cloud, landing the Listed Prix Dahlia, run over 10 furlongs.
Breaking smartly from the stalls, John Hammond’s charge was settled just off the early pace before being asked for her effort once entering the home straight. Nisreen then put up an impressive battle to see off a sustained challenge from Haggle and eventually won by a neck.
Nisreen was bred by Shadwell Stud and is out of the multiple winner Badweia (Kingmambo), herself a granddaughter of multiple G1 winner Shadayid.
Less than an hour later, Dubawi’s progressive son Ghostwatch stepped up to Stakes level in style, winning the Listed Noel Murless Stakes at Ascot.
Settled in third under William Buick, Ghostwatch began to make headway two furlongs from home and taking the lead approaching the final furlong marker, stayed on superbly to win more easily than the half-length margin would suggest.
Ghostwatch was bred by the Niarchos family and is out of the Stakes-winning Beat Hollow mare Nature Spirits.
Raven’s Pass has one yearling to sell at Tattersalls October Book 1 next week, while Dubawi – currently the world’s number one sire – has 21.
