The progressive three-year-old filly Fiera Vista showed what the addition of Exceed And Excel to an already brilliant family could produce when she led throughout to win Saturday’s Listed Morphettville Guineas in Adelaide, Australia.
Fiera Vista is closely related to the one-time world champion sprinter Silent Witness, but her latest win showed that she possesses stamina as well as speed.
Taken straight to the front, Fiera Vista set a steady pace that left her with enough in reserve to win by three lengths from another Darley-sired runner, Legion Fighter (Medaglia d’Oro).
The win also rewarded the faith that breeder John Camilleri has in Darley stallions.
Camilleri sent his mare Vegas Showgirl to the former Darley stallion Street Cry in 2010, the mating producing the world’s highest-rated racehorse Winx. Vegas Showgirl’s 2017 foal, now a yearling, is also by Exceed And Excel.
Fiera Vista is out of Empress Jade, a daughter of Jade Tiara, the dam of Silent Witness who won his first 17 starts in Hong Kong and Japan.
