Dubawi is enjoying a banner year, becoming the first British-based stallion ever to sire 100 individual Group winners early last month. He continues to add to that total and on Thursday, 16 August, his four-year-old son Plumatic became Group winner number 102 when landing Salisbury’s feature race of the year, the G3 Sovereign Stakes.
Settled in second under Maxime Guyon, Plumatic took on Zonderland (who won this race two years ago) inside the final furlong and battled impressively to win the one-mile contest by a length.
This was the third career victory for Andre Fabre’s charge, who was beaten just a nose in last year’s G3 Prix du Prince d’Orange.
A homebred for Wertheimer et Frere, Plumatic is out of the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Plumania, who is closely related to Dubawi’s G1-winning daughter Left Hand.
Dubawi has now sired 16 individual Group winners in 2018, including G1-winning trio Benbatl (winner of two contests at the highest level this year), outstanding filly Wild Illusion, and North America.
