Dubawi took one step closer to 100 Group winners on Saturday, 9 June when his son D’bai became winner number 98 in the G3 John Of Gaunt Stakes. Run over seven furlongs at Haydock Park, he tracked the pace before closing on the bridle two furlongs from home. Taking the lead inside the distance, he gamely held off the challenge of Larchmont Lad to win by a head.
Bred by Lodge Park Stud, he is a full brother to the G2 Celebration Stakes winner and 2,000 Guineas second, Dubawi Gold, Stakes winner Fort Knox and Black Type performer Savannah Storm. His dam, the Green Desert mare Savannah Belle, hails from the extended family of Classic performers Three Tails, Tamure and Maysoon.
Amongst his 98 lifetime Group winners Dubawi has sired 35 that have won at the highest level. He was also the world’s leading yearling sales sire in 2017 with an average of £751,000, the third successive year that he has achieved that feat. He has sired 33 Stakes performers in 2018 including a brace of G1 winners in Dubai in Benbatl and North America.
