Dubawi has been enjoying a successful spell of late and on Sunday, 4 March, he recorded his fourth Stakes winner in less than ten days when his son Muntazah landed HH The President Cup in Abu Dhabi.
Settled in mid division under Jim Crowley, Sheikh Hamdan’s homebred began to make progress with three furlongs left to run and taking the lead approaching the final furlong marker, ran on well to win by a length and three quarters. Helmet’s useful son Eqtiraan, who won the Listed Cathedral Stakes last year, put up another strong performance to take second, while Portamento (Shamardal) finished third to complete the Darley-sired trifecta.
Muntazah is out of the G1 Epsom Oaks third and Feilden Stakes winner Rumoush, also dam of Group winner Talaayeb and herself a half-sister to G1 1,000 Guineas and G1 Coronation Stakes winner Ghanaati. Muntazah’s third dam is the blue hen Height Of Fashion, dam of Nayef, Nashwan and Unfuwain, plus three further Black Type winners.
Dubawi has now sired nine individual Black Type performers in 2018, including dual Group winner Benbatl and last Thursday's G3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy victor Rare Rhythm. Last year, he sired an outstanding 23 Group winners – no fewer than eight of whom were victorious at G1 level.
