Mr Stunning, an Australian-bred son of Exceed And Excel, continued his dominance of the sprint division in Hong Kong on Sunday, 10 December when landing the G1 Hong Kong Sprint. Always travelling smoothly in third in the six-furlong contest, he cruised to the lead in the straight before holding off the late challenge of D B Pin to win well.
Winning his tenth race in a 16-start career, this was his first victory at the highest level after a trio of scores in G2s in the Sprint Stakes (twice) and the Premier Bowl Handicap. His victory in the Sprint Stakes on 19 November provided his sire Exceed And Excel with his 250th Stakes victory of his illustrious career.
Bred by Makybe Racing and Breeding, Mr Stunning is a son of the Dayjur mare With Fervour, who has bred five winners in Europe, Asia and Australasia. With Fervour is a daughter of the three-time US G1 winner Fran’s Valentine.
Exceed And Excel has sired 41 Stakes performers in 2017 including ten that have won at Group level. A proven source of world-class speed, all his Group winners have come at a mile or less and includes two European juvenile G2 six-furlong winners in James Garfield and Threading. He will be standing this coming season at a fee of €50,000 Oct 1, SLF.
